Despite U.S. Poker being one of the more popular professional card games in the country, underage students are playing the game on illegal terms more and more often. They are playing poker in the cafeteria at high schools across the country and betting on lunch money, food, and other items. Many schools have banned gambling on campus, even at colleges and universities, but students are still gambling in poker games.

The card game of poker has a variety of different families including straight, stud, draw and community. US Poker became incredibly popular in the 1970s when the World Series of Poker originally began. The first couple of champions from the World Series of Poker were Johnny Moss, Amarillo Slim, Bobby Baldwin, Doyle Brunson and Puggy Pearson. As players continue to win chips throughout the game they can bet them or hold onto them. Once the game is complete the players can take their chips to the cashier and exchange them for cash.
